Congressman Al Green’s Clarion Call for Unity Without Uniformity Among the Many Millions Adversely Impacted by The Divisive Make America Hate Agenda

(Houston, TX) — On Friday, January 24, 2025, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:

In less than a week, President Trump has, among many other things, per CNN:

• Put a freeze on civil rights cases; 
• Recognized only 2 genders; 
• Shut down the gun violence prevention office; 
• Put DEI federal employees on paid leave; 
• Halted police reform agreements; 
• Begun mass deportations; and
• Challenged birthright citizenship.

If the above doesn’t get your attention, maybe this will: A United States Congressman has introduced H.J.Res.29, a joint resolution to allow President Trump to serve three terms.

Friends, we cannot defeat the Make America Hate Agenda by expecting others to help us when we won’t help others. While our issues appear to be different, the root cause of our conditions is the same for all. That root cause for all emanates from policies promulgated by a would-be autocrat.

United, we can prevent a rising autocracy from destroying our time-tested democracy. The success of the autocracy is dependent upon our fighting the good fight, while separated from each other. Under an agenda of unity without uniformity (without sacrificing our uniqueness), we can show the world that we are not alone because we have each other – we are united.

United: 

• We can achieve comprehensive immigration reform with a righteous pathway to citizenship for law-abiding, tax-paying undocumented immigrants, and much more; 
• We can recognize that sexuality is one’s mentality regardless of one’s physicality; 
• We can end the myth of ending gun violence with more guns;
• We can show that diversity and equity are needed inclusivities for all to overcome centuries of exclusivity for some; and
• We can make righteous police reform acceptable and changing birthright citizenship by Executive Order unacceptable. 

Our unity against the policies of rising far-right-wing autocracy is the best hope for democracy. Stay tuned, there is much more to come.
