I announced my campaign for Governor of Michigan on Wednesday. Here’s why I’m running.
John,
I’m Jocelyn Benson. You might know me as Michigan’s Secretary of State — the civil servant who expanded voting, the tireless advocate for election workers, the elected official who got death threats for doing her job.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to protect and advance democracy, how to keep it safe from those who seek to destroy it, and how to make sure the wealthy can’t bend it to their will.
I’m proud of the work I’ve done as Secretary of State to make Michiganders’ lives easier and to make sure their voices are heard. But my work isn’t done. Part of advancing democracy is making sure our state is responsive to all our citizens’ needs, from the safety of our kids in school to the right to affordable healthcare and reproductive care.
That's why I'm running for Governor.
If you're with me, will you add your name to our list of supporters right now?
ADD YOUR NAME
I’ve spent my life standing up to powerful interests, and I’ll keep standing up to any bullies or billionaires who try to deceive us, divide us, take away our rights, or deprive us of our opportunities.
I’m running for Governor to truly make government work for everyone. We need transparent leadership, safe schools and neighborhoods, and good education and childcare. Every Michigander should be able to pay their bills, put food on the table, and take care of their families.
With your help, I know we can get it done.
Thank you,
Jocelyn Benson
