John — as wildfires continue to tear through Southern California, displacing thousands of families and consuming entire neighborhoods, Donald Trump just made one thing clear: He doesn’t care.
In a recent Fox News interview, Trump threatened to withhold FEMA disaster relief funds from California. He claimed states should “take care of their own problems.”
This is no surprise. Trump has spent years politicizing disaster relief. After Hurricane Helene devastated North Carolina, Trump and his allies spread false claims that FEMA’s response was biased against Republicans and that funding was being diverted to help undocumented immigrants. It wasn’t true — but it didn’t stop him from trying to use the catastrophe to divide the American public and cast doubt on government programs designed to help communities.
This is dangerous. Donate now to help us elect leaders who will defend disaster relief, fight for bold climate policies, and protect communities from devastation caused by global climate change.
As the climate crisis escalates around the country — with more destructive wildfires, hurricanes, and flooding — Trump is pulling the rug out from under communities who need help the most. His priority is to punish his political opponents instead of offering support to those in crisis.
It’s appalling. It’s dangerous. And it’s exactly why we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines.
No matter how many federal programs Trump guts, no matter how many executive orders he signs, our mission does not change. We are building a firewall of climate leaders to fight back.
One leader at a time. One state at a time. We’re electing climate champions who will reject Trump’s destructive agenda, protect communities under attack, and pass bold policies to fight the climate crisis at every level.
And we need your help to fund our work. If you’re with us, chip in a few dollars today. Together, we’ll protect the progress we’ve made — and take back what Trump tries to destroy.
