2.  Earned Income Tax Credit resources available

With Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day coming up on Jan. 31, the IRS wants the tax community to know about resources that can assist with EITC claims. For example, you can use the EITC Assistant to determine client eligibility, while the child-related tax benefits comparison page outlines eligibility rules.

Even if taxpayers do not qualify for the EITC, they may be eligible for other credits or deductions. The Interactive Tax Assistant can help determine eligibility for the Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit or Credit for Other Dependents.

Visit the Tax Return Preparer Toolkit for more information.

4.  IRS Form 1120-H now available for electronic filing

Taxpayers can now file Form 1120-H, U.S. Income Tax Return for Homeowners Associations, electronically. A homeowners association files Form 1120-H as its income tax return to exclude exempt function income from its gross income. Tax preparation software must include the option to file the form electronically. Taxpayers can still choose to submit a paper version.

Visit Form 1120/1120-S/1120-F/1120-H efile page on IRS.gov to learn more.
