This time around, Trump’s White House stint is starting out like we all knew it would: unhinged and confused.

We all knew what these first few days would be like when Trump started hurling off his kooky Cabinet nominations. I have seen a lot of Cabinet confirmations in my career. In general, if it’s quiet, the nominee is going to make it. The only time you stop a nomination is if you kick up enough of a stink that senators have to pay attention.

Putting an erratic, abusive drunk in charge of the Pentagon has resulted in that kind of stink. This confirmation is hanging on by a thread.

We needed to blow the lid off. That’s where you stepped up in a big way. Just by supporting The Lincoln Project, you’ve helped expose these threats to our democracy. 

Senator Murkowski flipped on Hegseth. So did Senator Collins. That’s two Republicans going against Trump and the MAGA cult. That’s no easy feat. And that’s certainly no accident.

You’re helping save democracy at the ground floor. We’ve made progress, but remember, the fight is just beginning. We still have a bunch of dangerous nominees whose confirmations are up in the air, and we have four years of Trump trying to undermine everything our forefathers built.
