Email from Rep. Van Duyne Now that President Trump is officially sworn into office... Washington, D.C. – On Saturday, I enjoyed talking taxes with former Chairman Kevin Brady and Congressman Moran at the Texas State Society’s Texas Business Conference! On the Ways and Means Committee, we’re working hard to renew President Trump’s successful tax cuts. It was good to see so many familiar faces from home, including State Representative Brian Harrison! It was also great visiting with Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, who has set a national example of how states can partner with the Trump Administration to aid in the deportation of criminal illegal aliens. Our D.C. office was bustling on Sunday as we met with North Texans in town to celebrate the inauguration. The excitement and energy in the air was incredible! On Monday, I had the honor of attending the inauguration of President Trump and Vice President Vance. The ceremony was beautiful, patriotic, and sent an inspiring message that America’s best days are ahead. From growing our economy to unleashing American energy, I have faith that President Trump and Vice President Vance will usher in a new Golden Age of America! I was pleased to see the President take strong Day One executive actions, including several that will help secure our border. Later, I spent time with Jocelyn Nungaray's mother, Alexis, who’s been a strong voice in the fight to secure our border after her daughter was taken from us too soon in a brutal murder by criminal gang members who entered our country illegally. On Wednesday, I joined my Ways and Means colleagues in introducing a bill to reinforce President Trump’s executive order rejecting Democrats’ global tax surrender. We’ve been fighting these policies to prevent the destruction of American jobs for years and finally have a partner willing to do the same. After, I chaired our first Small Business Committee hearing of the 119th Congress. We’re continuing our work to help American small businesses grow, innovate, and create jobs. Thursday, I reintroduced the Chemical Tax Repeal Act to repeal the $15 billion Biden-era Superfund Tax on American companies. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section! I also voted for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to ensure infants born alive after an attempted abortion receive the same life-saving medical care as any other newborn. I will always fight for the right to life! In the Ways and Means Committee this week, we continued our work to uplift working families and job creators. I heard from my colleagues on both sides of the aisle about their priorities for tax reform. You can click here to watch our Member Day hearing. Texas-24 Work of the Week I reintroduced the Chemical Tax Repeal Act to lower costs for North Texas families by repealing President Biden’s $15 BILLION tax on essential household goods. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science senior, Anirudh Mazumder, who has stepped up to serve our community by creating a nonprofit to streamline lifesaving organ donations.
