There's nothing we can do to bring Laken Riley back, after she was murdered by an illegal immigrant. However, we can prevent the Jose Ibarra’s of the world from ever walking our streets. Democrats know that not standing with Republicans on border security is a losing issue. That much was clear on November 5. Thankfully, enough of them joined us this week passing an amended version of the House of Representatives' bill. After going back to the House, it again passed overwhelmingly with bipartisan support. Now, theLaken Riley Act is off to the president's desk to be signed into law.
Today is the March for Life. As thousands arrive in Washington, D.C. to give a voice for the voiceless, we welcome them with open arms. This week, I joined numerous letters, cosponsored legislation, and spoke at a press conference with abortion survivors. For my wife Christie and me, being pro-life is more than just a passion, it’s more than just legislation, it’s more than just action; it's personal. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, every Senate Democrat voted to block the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.As a father of six children, this makes me sick. As your Senator, I will ALWAYS defend the unborn. Our fight continues to protect the sanctity of life.
Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said it best, "we can do this the easy or we can do it the hard way." Unfortunately, the Senate Democrats have chosen the latter. Instead of a typical gentleman's agreement for a president to appoint his cabinet, they are doing everything to delay President Trump's nominees. Let me be clear: these liberal delay tactics will fail. We will confirm all President Trump’s nominees, and we will deliver for the American people.
