Tuesday was a very good day for Frederick County!

I joined Governor Wes Moore for two major funding announcements: Improvements to US-15 and additional money for school construction projects.

US-15 between I-70 and Liberty Road is the most dangerous stretch of road in our region, with our Division of Fire and Rescue Services taking 146 people to the hospital after accidents over a 20-month period. Solving this problem has been Frederick County’s top transportation priority for as long as I can remember, and Governor Moore committed to making it a priority once again. 

Thank you to everyone who advocated for US-15! 

From our State Senators and Delegates to our County Council to our partners in municipal government to organizations like the Chamber of Commerce - we all came together to fight for this project to be reinstated because it is the right thing for Frederick County. Tuesday’s announcement would never have happened without such an incredible team effort. 

Governor Moore also announced he included additional funding for local school construction in his budget, which will help us build new classrooms to accommodate growing enrollment. This is a step in the right direction – but there is so much more to do, and I will not stop pushing for more investment in our schools.

Now our attention turns to Annapolis. We will continue the fight for US-15 and school construction funding as the legislature works on the budget – stay tuned on how you can help! We are always stronger when we work together.
