Dear Friends,

In case you missed it, this past Wednesday, Councilmember Landau held a Trump Preparedness Hearing at City Hall to address the fear and uncertainty so many of us share about the second Trump Administration. It was a moment to come together as a community, acknowledge the challenges ahead, and discuss how the City, nonprofit organizations, and advocates can be best prepared to safeguard our rights and protect our neighbors.

The hearing couldn’t be more timely, as news of ICE raids in cities across the country have already made headlines, along with the Trump Administration literally erasing mentions of LGBTQ+ issues from federal websites.

Here in Philadelphia, Rue is leading with her colleagues on the City Council to ensure that we stand strong in the face of President Trump’s warpath against marginalized Philadelphians. She will continue to do everything in her power as a Councilmember to ensure families don’t get torn apart, LGBTQ+ Philadelphians retain their rights, and all Philadelphians regardless of who they are protected.

As Councilmember Landau stated during the hearing:

"Everybody's been really worried about what Trump will do. It didn't take long after he was sworn into office to already put targets on the backs of so many Philadelphians, so many groups of Philadelphians, and people who have been living in fear for a very long time.

But today's hearing is really about extracting what we have, laying the foundation of what exists now and what we need to be ready for in the future."

The Trump Preparedness Hearing was just one of many steps she’s taking to ensure that Philadelphia is ready to respond with strength and unity.

Our city has stood as a beacon of hope and inclusion, and with Councilmember Landau’s leadership, we will continue to uphold these values—even in the face of adversity. Together, we will fight for a city where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.

But she can’t do this without your help.

Please consider contributing here to support the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant rights, and reproductive freedoms in Philadelphia.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for standing with us in this vital work.

More soon,

Team Landau
