Yesterday, the Attorney General announced a historic settlement with two of the worst perpetrators in fueling the U.S. opioid crisis.
Rob just secured a massive win for the people.
Yesterday, he announced a $7.4 billion settlement from Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, two of the worst perpetrators in fueling the nationwide opioid epidemic.
Under the Sacklers’ leadership, Purdue invented, manufactured, and aggressively marketed opioid products for decades, fueling waves of addiction and overdose deaths in California and across the country.
Now, the Sacklers can no longer control Purdue and are banned from selling opioids in the United States.
This historic settlement will deliver funding directly to communities across the country over the next 15 years to support opioid addiction treatment, prevention, and recovery programs.
As Rob said, under his watch, “Those who prioritize profits over people will continue to face serious consequences.”
