Foxx Report

On Monday, millions of Americans watched as President Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. I was very proud to be in attendance in the Capitol Rotunda during the inauguration ceremony, and to watch as President Trump addressed not only the nation, but also the entire world. With Republicans having secured a majority in the House of Representatives, a majority in the United States Senate, and the presidency, we can bring about significant change that will positively affect the trajectory of our nation for the better.

There was one portion of President Trump’s inauguration speech that I believe all of us would do very well to pay attention to and reflect upon:

“After all we have been through together, we stand on the verge of the four greatest years in American history. With your help, we will restore an American promise, and we will rebuild the nation that we love. And we love it so much. We are one people, one family and one glorious nation under God. So, to every parent who dreams for their child and every child who dreams for their future: I am with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you. And we're going to win like never before. In recent years, our nation has suffered greatly. But we are going to bring it back and make it great again. Greater than ever before. We will be a nation like no other. Full of compassion, courage and exceptionalism.”

In the coming days and months, I will continue to work alongside all my colleagues to deliver upon the American people’s November 5th mandate, as well as President Trump’s agenda. As I said to you last week, in my role as Chairwoman of the House Committee on Rules, I look forward to contributing to this great American turnaround. I’m also very excited to continue building upon the progress that House Republicans achieved during the 118thCongress as well. Rest assured that I’ll continue to update you on our progress as we move forward.

Some Important News

This week, I was selected as a member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce. This subcommittee will include direct oversight of FEMA – an agency that has repeatedly failed western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene’s devastation. I welcome this opportunity to apply extra scrutiny not only to FEMA, but also to other federal agencies that need a watchful, diligent eye. I look forward to keeping you up to date on my work both on the full Oversight Committee, as well as my new subcommittee assignment.

My Newest Bill

On Thursday, I introduced the Families Rights and Responsibilities Act alongside Senators Tim Scott (R-SC) and James Lankford (R-OK). Parents deserve to raise their children without the looming threat of government infringement. The Families Rights and Responsibilities Actwill shield parental rights while instituting a necessary, fundamental check against the government whenever it decides to enforce policies that fail to extend due deference to parental decision-making.

Quote of The Week

“My style is to stay on the offensive: to take risks, to recover very fast when you make a mistake, but to keep moving forward.”

-Newt Gingrich
