Friend,

Seven years ago I was shot while leaving a family event in Washington, DC.

Over the last seven years, I have joined with survivors from across the country to speak out about our stories of survival. These stories are personal and difficult to tell, but crucial to our journey of healing and empowerment. That’s why we’re kicking off Gun Violence Awareness month with an event series titled “Share Our Stories” . These events will be survivor centered, survivor led, and will highlight unique ways we can take action to end gun violence now.

ON JUNE 1st at 1:00PM ET, join survivors leading across the country as they share their stories and ways you can take action to #EndGunViolence in communities of color. [[link removed]]

In a world where over 100,000 people are shot or killed by guns every year, our stories as black and brown people are silenced or used in ways that re-traumatize us.

I don’t share my story and advocate because it’s fun, I don’t advocate because it is lucrative, I advocate because this crisis is taking too many lives, and too many people like me don’t have the option to survive.

But together we could make a difference. RSVP here to join me and other survivors on June 1st, and learn about ways you could take action now. [[link removed]]
