The recent agreement to secure a ceasefire in Gaza brings a lot of hope. But unfortunately, it does not mean an immediate end to the suffering of women and girls in Gaza.
As humanitarian aid trickles in, winter is setting in and displaced families lack adequate shelter to protect them from the elements. The intense winter cold and heavy rain leave millions exposed to hypothermia.
There are even reports of babies dying from the cold as winter temperatures drop.

Fewer than half of Gaza’s 36 hospitals are still functioning, depriving women and girls, including an estimated 150,000 pregnant women and new mothers, of access to critical healthcare.
There is still a critical need for care and resources in Gaza, and UNFPA will use the new ceasefire deal as an opportunity to scale up our humanitarian response. Trucks full of lifesaving reproductive health medicines, hygiene items, and postpartum supplies are ready to enter Gaza and reach the women and girls who need them.
This is our moment to scale up. You can help provide lifesaving health care services to pregnant women, new mothers, and their children by donating any amount today. Will you make a gift to deliver winter aid in Gaza and wherever your support is needed most? [[link removed]?]

We condemn the violence in Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and welcome the humanitarian ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas, and an end to the violence. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.
Thank you for being there for women and girls.
