What Are the Ramifications and The National Security Implications of the Israeli Hostage Deal?

While many of us are still feeling a sense of unbridled euphoria to see last Sunday’s release of Romi Gonen, 24, Emily Damari, 28, and Doron Steinbrecher, 31, and the return into the arms of their loved ones, we all have lingering concerns regarding the national security implications of this deal.

How many hostages will be released over the next 42 days, and in what condition, and in exchange for whom? Precisely which terrorists, exactly, will be released from Israeli prisons in exchange for the Israeli hostages? What was the nature of their crimes? How will this effect Iran, and all of their terrorist proxies? Will this simply encourage the abduction of more innocent people, in Israel and around the globe? Does Hamas regard the asymmetrical balance as a victory for their cause? How much of Hamas is left, and will Israel be able to control the Netzarim crossing and the Philadelphi corridor? If there is a remnant of Hamas left that inspires other young Palestinians, should this be, in reality, construed as a victory for the state of Israel? How will this effect the ongoing instability in Judea and Samaria?

Brigadier General Amir Avivi is here to answer these questions and more.
