Dear Friend,
I wanted to reach out to you personally because the world’s most vulnerable are in danger.
With the stroke of a pen, President Trump has slammed the door on refugees and denied the chance for countless innocent children and their families to seek asylum.
Since our nation’s founding, America’s moral leadership has ensured the most vulnerable can find refuge within our borders and an opportunity to fulfill the American dream.
But now that dream has been put on hold, especially for those who’ve fled war-torn countries or left their homes in the dead of night due to fear of persecution.

It is all so heart-wrenching. But we must not let America’s moral compass come to a breaking point.
Tens of thousands of refugees from around the world have waited years—some even decades—for the chance to start a better tomorrow in the United States. Could you imagine?
Many can’t ever return to their home countries—such as Afghanistan, Sudan, or the Democratic Republic of Congo—due to ongoing wars, fear of torture, or even death. Women and girls are particularly at risk. For unaccompanied children who’ve taken a harrowing journey to escape violence in Central America, the border is now closed, and their futures are halted.
But today we fight back. It is USCRI’s 114 years of steadfast mission and eternal commitment to:
* Stand up and advocate for refugee and immigrant rights and policies.
* Continue to serve survivors of trafficking and to reunite unaccompanied children—many who’ve experienced unspeakable horrors—with their loved ones in the U.S.
* To welcome and support the path to self-sufficiency for thousands of new refugee neighbors who’ve arrived across many American communities in recent weeks.
With you at our side, we can meet the challenge ahead. ([link removed]) There is still so much to do. And so much worth fighting for.
Thank you for standing with refugees and immigrants.
With my sincere thanks,
Eskinder Negash
