Legislative Update

________________________________________________________________________

Dear friends and neighbors,

I am pleased to share an update with you from the second week of the legislative session. We have been busy meeting in committees, holding floor sessions, drafting and introducing legislation, and more.

Important Bills

The Republicans have highlighted our priorities by announcing the first 10 bills of the legislative session, House files 1-10. I will highlight one of those as well as a few bills that I have introduced this week.

Committee

For Owatonna, I have dropped a bill that will provide funding for a new public safety facility, specifically for our fire and police services.

In Waseca, I have already dropped 2 bills that will provide funding for both a new water tower and sanitary sewer improvements.

These bills will provide the financial means to make crucial community improvements in our district.

I would also like to highlight HF9 [ [link removed] ], which is one of our first 10 priority bills. HF9 specifically aims to remove the nuclear moratorium. Removing the nuclear moratorium will provide more opportunities to reduce our greenhouse gas concerns and help us achieve carbon-zero Minnesota. I am a proud supporter of this bill, especially as a member of the energy committee.

The rest of our first 10 priority bills establish the following goals for this session:

* Stop the Fraud
* Make Minnesota Affordable
* Make Minnesota Safe
* Reduce Mandates, Raise Standards
* Use Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
* Build for the Future

As we continue to draft legislation to meet these goals, I will share our progress with you!

March for Life

On Wednesday, we remembered the 51st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion across the nation. It was great to see the MCCL March for Life affirm the sanctity of life here in Minnesota and across the country. I am proud to support movements such as this one, which fight for the rights of those who can't fight for themselves.

MPPOA Legislative Reception

I was also able to attend the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) Legislative Reception. I am grateful for the service and sacrifice of our officers across the state. I am proud to be surrounded by other legislators, such as Senator John Jasinski, who share in my support of our public safety professionals. Thank you to all of our officers who are committed to the safety of our communities and state.
