Friends --
The EPA was created in 1970 with the mission of protecting "human health and the environment."
Since then, EPA Administrators of both parties have carried out that mission and addressed serious environmental issues across the country, including water pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. We've made major strides toward cleaning up the Bay thanks to the EPA, but now we have work to do to protect that progress.
President Trump appointed Andrew Wheeler to lead this critical agency last year. Since then, Wheeler has done his level best to undermine our access to clean air and water and let his polluter friends off the hook when it comes to following emissions standards. Now, as states scramble to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, Wheeler has decided to relax the enforcement of critical environmental standards.
Will you add your name to our petition demanding that critical environmental laws be enforced during the pandemic?

It's not right to allow reckless pollution in important ecosystems like the Chesapeake Bay at any time -- and trying to brush this lack of enforcement under the rug during a pandemic is especially reprehensible. Mark Warner and a group of colleagues in the House and Senate are calling on state leaders in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. to take steps to keep the Bay clean. But the fact remains that this is the EPA's responsibility, and Andrew Wheeler is failing to do his job.
Add your name and support these lawmakers as they hold the Trump administration accountable.

This lax attitude toward important standards comes at a price -- our health and environment. Ignoring pollution standards not only harms our natural spaces, it harms our health. Thank you for your support on this critical issue.
