Trump’s cabinet pick for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, is back in the news after an affidavit from his former sister-in-law contained new, and very disturbing, information about him.

According to the affidavit, Hegseth was abusive to his ex-wife to the point where she prepared an escape plan and had a safe word with family and friends.

She also stated that he believed “Women should not vote or work and that Christians needed to have more children so they could overtake the Muslim population.”

This is on top of the interviews in which he stated that he doesn’t believe women should have combat roles in the military, and the 2018 email written by his own mother stating that he “routinely mistreated women and displayed a lack of character.” And after a 22-page police report was released detailing rape allegations against Hegseth from 7 years ago.

We CANNOT sit back and watch our government become overrun with misogynists, sexual predators, and dangerous men who genuinely hate women. At the very least, we need as many brave women as possible serving in government with these men to hold them accountable and protect our rights.

American women will likely encounter a great deal of misogyny over the next four years – and we are bracing ourselves for what these ideologies will look like as policies.
