Vice President JD Vance to Attend March for Life on Friday
Washington Post: Thousands of antiabortion demonstrators are expected to gather in the nation’s capital Friday for the 52nd annual March for Life, protesting and pressuring lawmakers to take action. The march has been held every January since Jan. 22, 1973, when Roe v. Wade established a woman’s right to have an abortion without excessive government restrictions — the day Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, calls “the darkest day of our American story.” While Friday marks the third March for Life since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court, Hawkins and others say they are motivated to rally as research found the number of abortions in the United States increased in the aftermath of the decision ( Washington Post). Politico: President Donald Trump will address the annual March for Life demonstration on the National Mall via video, the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America told reporters Thursday. “This pro-life president is going nowhere,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, the group’s president, said… March for Life also announced on Thursday that Vice President JD Vance will address the event in person, saying in a statement that it was “a sign of his commitment to standing up for life” ( Politico).

Trump Redesignates Houthi Rebels a Terror Organization
Axios: President Trump announced on Wednesday that he is once again designating the Houthi rebels in Yemen as a terrorist organization. Trump’s decision reverses a decision by then-President Biden in 2021 to remove the terrorist designation from the Houthis. Biden had lifted the designation over concerns about the ability of the UN and other humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to civilians in Yemen. Trump’s move is expected to be welcomed not only by Israel but also by Saudi Arabia and the UAE ( Axios). Israel War Room: The order fully restores US sanctions on the Iran-backed terror group. The order also declares it is now US policy to eliminate the Houthis’ capabilities and operations and deprive them of resources to end their attacks on US personnel, partners, and ships in the Red Sea ( X). Iran is not pleased. Jerusalem Post: Iran on Thursday condemned as “baseless” a move by US President Donald Trump to re-designate Yemen’s Tehran-aligned Houthi movement as a “foreign terrorist organization (FTO)” ( Jerusalem Post).

Judge Puts Pause on Trump’s Order Ending Birthright Citizenship
Wall Street Journal: A federal judge in Seattle temporarily blocked President Trump’s executive order that aimed to end birthright citizenship, an early setback for the Trump administration’s immigration agenda. In a written ruling issued on Thursday, U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour entered a temporary restraining order that prohibits the Trump administration from implementing the executive order until he can more fully hear arguments over its legality. The federal government has long recognized birthright citizenship—the automatic granting of citizenship to children born on U.S. soil. Trump issued an executive order hours after taking office to end recognition for birthright citizenship for babies born to immigrants in the U.S. illegally as well as to visa holders ( Wall Street Journal). Breitbart News: Senior U.S. District Judge temporarily blocks President Trump’s EO on birthright citizenship for 14 days. “This is a blatantly unconstitutional order,” says John Coughenour, a Reagan appointee ( X).
