“Governor Tina Kotek extends Oregon’s homelessness emergency declaration once again”
— OPB, January 9, 2025
“Since declaring the homelessness emergency response two years ago, we exceeded the targets…” Kotek said in a statement Thursday. “But the urgency remains as homelessness continues to increase and we need to see this strategy through.”

On Tina’s first day in the Governor’s office, she declared a homelessness state of emergency, and since then we’ve been able to invest millions of dollars to stabilize and expand existing shelters and keep people from losing their housing in the first place.
As a show of her commitment to ending the homelessness crisis across Oregon, Gov. Kotek recently extended her homelessness emergency order through 2026.
The work we’re doing is making a positive impact, and the data is showing that. By this July, we are projected to rehouse 3,300 families and prevent another 24,000 from becoming homeless.
If you support our work to put an end to the homelessness crisis, will you make a contribution to help power this campaign?

We have a duty and commitment to help our houseless neighbors, and Tina is working tirelessly to put an end to this crisis.
Thanks for everything, John.
