**LOCAL: Dallas Diner Fights for Safety, District 2**

For decades, the

**Original Market Diner** has been a local favorite for its comfort food and sense of community. But for the owner, Jimmy, the challenges created by nearby

**homeless encampments** are deterring patrons and

**choking business.** This week, he shared how these ongoing issues are impacting both his diner and the area he’s called home for so long.

For years, Jimmy has dealt with the fallout of homeless encampments near his diner. Fires from the camps have threatened nearby buildings, drug use and harassment have

**scared off customers**, and trash constantly piles up on his property. The situation escalated when Jimmy was

**assaulted** while trying to document the filthy conditions around the encampment.

After persistent efforts to get the city to act, the encampment near Jimmy’s diner was finally cleared. The relief was short-lived—

**within 24 hours, vagrants moved back in, proving the cycle simply repeats.** Temporary cleanups offer no lasting solution, leaving business owners like Jimmy to face these challenges on their own.

“The city cleans it up, but then what?” Jimmy asks. “It just moves to the next block or comes back the very next day.

**It**’

**s like we**’

**re stuck in an endless loop**,

**and nothing ever really changes**.”

The struggles at the Original Market Diner mirror the experiences of many businesses and residents across Dallas. Jimmy’s determination to speak out highlights the urgent need for lasting solutions. The city must move beyond quick fixes and tackle homelessness at its core while ensuring safety and dignity for everyone.

District 2 needs leaders who step up and deliver real solutions—not bandaids—to protect our businesses and neighbor

**hoods. It’s time to demand action that tackles homelessness at its**

**core while keeping our community safe.** Reach out to

**Councilman Jesse Moreno**and make it clear: quick fixes won’t cut it. Let’s fight for lasting change, together.

Tragedy Strikes: 23-Year-Old Woman Killed Walking to Rideshare [link removed]

A young life was cut short in a heartbreaking accident that has left Dallas mourning. While one victim fights to recover, the community is left grappling with the dangers pedestrians face daily. Our hearts are with Katherine’s family during this tragic time.

Most Wanted Child Predator Caught in Dallas [link removed]

Texas fugitive Marcos Christopher Alonzo, a convicted child predator, was finally captured in Dallas. While law enforcement deserves credit, it raises a troubling question: why are dangerous criminals like this free to roam our streets for so long? Dallas deserves better.

Carolyn Arnold Defies Term Limits, Ignores Voter Mandate [link removed]

Voters said

**no** to career politicians, but Carolyn King Arnold doesn’t care. Despite new, clear term limit rules barring her from running, Arnold plans to file for reelection anyway—ignoring the 69% of voters who approved Proposition E. Is this leadership, or entitlement?

**Tracking Illegal Camps:**

**District 2, Councilman Jesse Moreno**

**"Original Market Diner Sidewalk Camp"**

This is just a glimpse of what Jimmy, the owner of Original Market Diner, faces daily around his restaurant. What you see here is only a small offshoot of the massive encampment just a few feet away.

**District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno**, what are you doing to ensure Dallas business owners aren’t left to handle this on their own?

**District 6, Councilman Omar Narvaez**

**"Addict's Alley"**

Here on W. Mockingbird Lane in

**District 6**, we see yet another spot overtaken by trash, neglect, and drug abuse. The blatant activity happening in plain sight begs the question: what’s happening where no one’s looking?

**Council Member Omar Narvaez**must take action to bring order to his district.

**District 2, Councilman Jesse Moreno**

**"Dystopian Undercity"**

In a shocking and disgusting display of filth, junk, and decay, this spot on Coombs Street resembles something you’d expect in a third-world country—an affront to what Dallas should stand for.

**District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno**, residents are fed up with excuses. It’s time to clean up your district!

**Mission Statement:**

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
