MEDIA ADVISORY AND PRESS RELEASE

Congressman Al Green Encourages Applications for the Minority Business Development Agency’s $11 Million in Funding Opportunities

(Washington, D.C.) — The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) was codified as a permanent federal agency through Congressman Al Green’s Minority Business Resiliency Act of 2021, which was signed into law as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the MBDA announced that $11 million in federal funding would be made available to support, educate, and empower socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs and business owners. The funds will be made available through three new MBDA technical assistance programs:

1.     The MBDA Women’s Entrepreneurship Program – apply here.

2.     The MBDA Rural Business Center Program – apply here.

3.     The MBDA Parren J. Mitchell Entrepreneurship Education Program – apply here.

“This funding is an investment in the economic security of our nation’s minority business enterprises,” Congressman Green stated. “This opportunity represents exactly why the MBDA’s establishment as a permanent agency was so important. I am gratified to see the MBDA continuing to fulfill its mission, and I eagerly look forward to the disbursement of these funds.”
