Friend,
I just issued an Emergency Executive Order in preparation for rainy weather to prevent the flow of toxins from burned areas into our water, beaches, and ocean.
Ahead of expected rain, the City of Los Angeles is taking aggressive action to prevent additional damage in burn areas and mitigate serious health and environmental impacts.
Our crews are preparing to stem the flow of toxins from burned areas by:
* Preparing for future wet weather by installing reinforced barriers
* Removing fire debris with heavy duty equipment
* Capturing stormwater and diverting it to the sewer system
As our City works to rebuild and recover from this devastating time, we are leading a massive recovery effort to help Angelenos rebuild our community. You can pick up sandbags at certain local fire stations and recreation centers. For information on where to get sand, click here [[link removed]] . Angelenos are encouraged to call ahead of time to ensure that sand remains available.
