Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Pentagon for the next four years, is the least qualified Defense Secretary nominee in modern history.

I had the opportunity to meet Hegseth during his nomination hearing with the Senate Armed Services Committee last week. I went into it with many concerns about his qualifications. This is a man who has been accused of disregarding the laws of war and abusing women. He has a history of financial mismanagement and public intoxication. Those concerns were not put to rest at the hearing.

So today, I’m asking you to join me in opposing this nomination. Add your name next to mine if you agree: Pete Hegseth is wholly unqualified to serve as Defense Secretary.

I have supported every nominee for this position until now, including Donald Trump’s previous Defense Secretaries, Jim Mattis and Mark Esper.

So believe me when I say: This is not a partisan issue. It’s about the safety and security of our country.
