Our 2025 priorities 🌱

Hello Friend,

This week, Governor Hochul unveiled her executive budget, and it's not filled with the kind of climate leadership New York needs in any year, let alone this one. For more details, read the Renewable Heat Campaign's official statement.

Fortunately, we have a major opening to pressure the Assembly on their budget, and make sure it includes vital legislation like the NY HEAT Act and GAP Fund. Speaking of which...

Make sure to join us at our February 4th Albany Action! This is our first big RHN action of the year, and we need it to be as big and powerful as possible to show the Assembly that we won't settle for anything less than the cleaner heat and lower bills we deserve.

We talk a lot about NY HEAT, but this year we're also prioritizing the GAP Fund, which provides funding to help repair issues in homes that prevent electrification. From removing mold to upgrading old and dangerous wire systems, the GAP Fund has a whole host of benefits, so join our very own Deputy Director Avni Pravin on Wednesday, January 29th for for virtual Teach-In t learn more!

We're not just about passing legislation either. With so much going on, we thought it would be helpful to put together an Instagram explainer on AGREE's Top 2025 priorities. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed and don't know where to start, or are just curious about the many, many areas we're focusing on, please give it a like and share!

And finally, make sure to join us tonight for our latest Renewable Heat Now Power Hour! We'll debrief the budget in full, discuss our strategy, and prepare for the big day on February 4th.

It's hard to read the news and not feel anxious about things. But here in New York, there's so much we can do. As Mr. Rogers said, when you see bad things happening, "look for the helpers." So many people are helping by fighting back and working to make sure states like ours can push forward. And by taking action, you can be one of them.
