Folks,
Yesterday in the Senate Budget Committee, I questioned Russell Vought — President Trump’s nominee for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Before I tell you about some of the concerning conversations we had, I’m asking if you can pitch in to support my re-election campaign so we can flip the Senate blue in 2026 >> [link removed]
When it comes to leading OMB, here are the two questions Vought seems to be asking himself: How many federal workers can I get to quit? How many federal offices can I relocate?
Don't believe me? Just look at his dangerous track record of demonizing federal employees (which, by the way, makes the government less effective for EVERYONE.) Or look at when I pressed him on his history of calling for government workers to be "traumatized” — his actual words were “we want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected… we want to put them in trauma” or his chaotic plans to dismantle the civil service and government programs for all.
No one who oversees a workforce should “put them in trauma.” That’s management malpractice at its finest.
And of course, as an architect of Project 2025, Vought put forward the idea that breaking up the Intelligence Community and moving it around the country would make our nation more safe. When I asked for any evidence that this was the case? I got another disappointing response.
The reality is, Vought wants to use this position as his political litmus test for party politics.
Look, I said before that every single one of Trump’s nominees deserves the opportunity for a fair hearing. Vought got exactly that. But this is a job that requires someone with a background of reliable experience and the temperament that allows them to manage appropriately and get things done.
Vought can argue all he wants that he’s that person, but yesterday’s hearing showed us otherwise.
You deserve nominees who will make our country safer and stronger. I pledge to have your back in the Senate and do everything I can to make that happen. Will you chip in today to support this crucial work?
