John,
When Donald Trump was sworn in as President, he vowed to uphold the Constitution. But just hours later, he issued an executive order that aims to end birthright citizenship—a blatant violation of the Constitution he swore to uphold.
The Fourteenth Amendment, adopted in 1868, couldn’t be clearer: If you are born in the U.S., you are a U.S. citizen. Birthright citizenship has been the law of the land for over 125 years, and it has been upheld twice by the U.S. Supreme Court.
No one—not even the President—gets to trample on the Constitution. That’s why I, along with over 20 of my fellow Attorneys General, am filing a lawsuit to strike down this unconstitutional executive order.
If you’re willing to stand with us as we seek to block the executive order purporting to end birthright citizenship, please add your name to show support for our lawsuit:

I didn’t run for office so I could sue President Trump. But when he violates the Constitution and tries to take away the fundamental rights and freedoms of Minnesotans, it’s my job to have your back.
If this executive order is allowed to stand, individuals will be stripped of their rightful U.S. citizenship and forced to live under the constant threat of deportation, despite having no clear citizenship in any other nation. At least 150,000 children born right here in the United States each year would be denied critical rights and protections.
To make it clear that we’re committed to protecting the Fourteenth Amendment and Minnesotans’ ability to live with dignity, safety, and respect, we’re hoping to gather 10,000 signatures before the weekend. Will you add your name right now to be counted?
