It's time for a grown up to run the Department of Energy.

Just The News (1/16/25) reports: "The confirmation hearing Wednesday for President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for energy secretary, Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright, gave the oil executive an opportunity to clarify his views on energy and climate. 'Energy is the essential agent of change that enables everything that we do — everything. A low-energy society is poor. A highly energized society can bring health, wealth and opportunity for all,' Wright said in his opening statement. Over two-and-a-half hours of questions, Wright testified on his vision, if he’s confirmed, for fossil fuels, nuclear, wind, solar and geothermal. He also discussed his position on carbon capture and other emission-reduction policies, nuclear waste disposal, and appliance efficiency standards...'I sit in front of you today…because President elect Trump shares a passion for energy and an instinctual understanding that energy is not a sector of the economy. It's the sector of the economy that enables everything else we do,' Wright said. Wright also expressed support for oil and gas development. He said that when he was born 60 years ago, 80% of primary energy came from 'hydrocarbons,' another term for fossil fuels.  'Today, total global primary energy is sort of low to mid 80% so global demand for energy has grown a lot. We brought a lot of new energy technologies along, thankfully, or we wouldn't have as much energy as we have today, but it's proven very hard to displace hydrocarbons in the global energy system,' Wright said."

"I terminated the ridiculous and incredibly wasteful Green New Deal -- I call it the 'Green New Scam'; withdrew from the one-sided Paris Climate Accord; and ended the insane and costly electric vehicle mandate. We're going to let people buy the car they want to buy."

Says the guy who is destroying his country...

Reuters (1/21/24) reports: "Germany and Europe should continue on the path of expanding low-carbon energies during the second presidency of Donald Trump, a climate change sceptic, outgoing German vice chancellor Robert Habeck said on Tuesday. Habeck, speaking at the Handelsblatt annual energy conference in Berlin ahead of the Feb. 23 election, said Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement was 'fatal.' 'We have to bring our own technologies to the fore,' said Habeck, the architect of plans to make 80% of electricity green in Germany by 2030."

If you know you can't succeed, hide, hide the data.

The future is all EV (so long as it's illegal to manufacture, import, or purchase any other kind of vehicle).

The Conversation (1/15/25) reports: "Last year, electric car registrations in the UK topped those of Germany. The number of UK sales (382,000 vehicles) came from growth of 21.4% on 2023, making the UK the largest market for electric vehicles (EVs) in Europe for the first time. In Germany, meanwhile, registrations fell by more than 25% to 380,000 vehicles in 2024 as consumer subsidies of up to €4,500 (£3,800) for private buyers were withdrawn amid a budget crisis...So is the UK market a haven in a global maelstrom? The key to the market share taken by EVs has been the UK government’s zero emission vehicle mandate, and the generous provisions made to company car buyers. The mandate is aimed at ending the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK by 2035...Manufacturers selling in the UK that fail to comply with the targets of the zero emission vehicle mandate could face fines of up to £15,000 for every non-EV car they sell. This approach is very different to the typical incentives offered to buyers in many markets."
