John,

STAND WITH REFUGEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS AND IMMIGRANTS >>

I wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to join over 2,000 advocates like you who have already pledged to stand with refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants.

As we continue to analyze executive orders announced by the Trump administration and the 119th Congress begins their work, we need to know that IRC advocates, just like you, are ready to defend refugees and asylum seekers.

This work won't be easy, but with advocates like you by our side, we will continue to support America's longstanding traditions of humanitarian leadership and care for the most vulnerable.

Subject: RE: Inauguration Day prep

John,

Since Election Day, I have received countless messages from IRC supporters like you, asking how you can support refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants under President-elect Trump.

My answer is the same no matter who is in office: the best way to take action, right now, is to stand with refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants by adding your name to show your continued support of pro-refugee and asylum policies.

Today, I'm asking you to join me in pledging to stand with refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants.

Refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants are parents, children and neighbors seeking the same stability and peace that we all cherish.

By understanding their plight and responding with compassion, we can extend a lifeline that fosters hope and resilience. That is why I hope you'll reaffirm your support with me today. >>

During the first Trump administration, I regularly called on advocates like you to contact the White House and your congress members to raise support for the U.S. refugee resettlement program, end the criminalization of the asylum process, end U.S. military aid to the war in Yemen, and much more.

This work, advocating for the rights and safety of refugees and asylum seekers, continued during the Biden administration and will continue with the next administration.

For over 90 years, in over 40 countries and in 29 U.S. cities, the IRC has prioritized our clients by delivering essential services whenever and wherever they are needed, regardless of the challenges.

Policies implemented by the Trump and Biden administrations over the last eight years have created significant barriers for asylum seekers accessing their legal right to seek asylum in the U.S.

While the U.S. has historically been a global leader in refugee resettlement, admitting over 3.2 million refugees since the 1980 Refugee Act, with support from both Democratic and Republican leaders alike, the refugee resettlement program faced significant cuts under the first Trump administration.

This time, before Inauguration Day, I want President-elect Trump and all members of the 119th Congress to know that the IRC has advocates like you, who are ready to respond to possible anti-refugee and anti-asylum legislation and policies.
