Last week, Governor Kim Reynolds addressed Iowans in her Condition of the State speech, where she laid out her plans for the year.

So what are the Governor’s top priorities? She wants to provide tax breaks for the wealthy and strip hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars from public schools for private school vouchers.

She didn’t even mention the decline in farm incomes, the loss of manufacturing jobs, affordable child care, rising healthcare costs, or the other many issues Iowans struggle with daily.

Republicans have controlled Iowa for the past eight years, and they’ve given millions of taxpayer dollars to wealthy families to send their children to private school and enacted an unpopular six-week abortion ban. The Governor’s latest speech confirms she has no new vision for our state.

Iowa Republicans create problems, but Iowa Democrats are here to solve them. The Iowa Democratic Party is already organizing to take on Reynolds and replace her in 2026, but we can’t do it alone.
