Hi Friend!
On Day One of the Trump administration, we once again saw that young people’s futures are not at all on his radar.
These check-ins will become even more important as Trump’s administration continues to strip our rights. For the time being, here’s what you need to know:
“The TikTok Ban Only Makes Zuck and Elon Happy — And Infuriates Young People” -Teen Vogue
- Last week, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the ban on TikTok. Users were frustrated when the app went dark on Saturday and was restored after 12 hours – with a message to the 170,000,000 American TikTok users crediting President Trump. This decision is now being regarded as the first Trump “win” for young people. But Donald Trump’s first 12 hours as president and his numerous evil executive orders are proof that he doesn’t care at all about the issues that are important to young people. We can’t be distracted. For more information on the TikTok ban, make sure you are following us on all social media platforms:

“Trump says to unleash American fossil fuels, halt climate cooperation” - Reuters
-
Today in updates that surprised… no one, Donald Trump has gone against the interests of young people by backing out of the Paris Climate Accords (again) and signed a record-breaking amount of anti-climate policies on Day 1. We will feel the repercussions of deregulating our environmental protections for years to come. It is more important than ever that we fight back and pass legislation that helps protect our planet and our futures – click here to send a note to your Senators asking them to pass the Green New Deal.

Young people are tired of older generations deciding their future. In his first administration, Trump repealed critical environmental policy, like the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 which was one of the most important acts passed to combat the climate crisis. While we don’t know for sure what will happen, our Executive Director, Corryn G. Freeman, expresses her thoughts on the next four years:
