Dear John,

Human trafficking is a human rights violation that affects millions of people worldwide — mostly women and children. It’s about control and power and involves people being bought, sold, and forced into labor and/or sexual exploitation.

During Human Trafficking Awareness Month, how can you — healthcare workers, employers, domestic violence agencies, policy leaders and others — work to prevent and respond to this injustice?

Futures Without Violence works extensively to stop human trafficking and support survivors.

We provide training to professionals on improving cross agency collaboration, resources for healthcare workers, and technical assistance for victim service providers to increase access to educational and employment opportunities for survivors.

FUTURES' Carolyne Ouya speaks with Eric Terry, President of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association, before an audience of travel industry leaders.
Join us at one of our upcoming opportunities.
  • Jan 28 Webinar (Online): Collaborative Support for the Mental Health Needs of Survivors of Human Trafficking. How can staff in service agencies best collaborate with mental health services that survivors may need? Learn more and register.

  • March 12-14 Training Institute (Ft. Lauderdale, FL): Building Collaborative Responses to Trafficking Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence. For attorneys, law enforcement, healthcare staff, those working in domestic and sexual violence programs, and anyone working in anti-human trafficking programs. Learn more and apply by Jan. 29.

You can also go to our website for more resources, tools and webinars on human trafficking.

Finally, please share the National Human Trafficking Hotline* information with anyone who is, or knows someone who is experiencing human trafficking. You can call 1-888-373-7888, email [email protected], text HELP to 233733 (BEFREE) or chat at www.humantraffickinghotline.org.

We know that together we can end human trafficking. Thank you for your partnership.

Respectfully,

Mónica Arenas, Program Manager, Social Justice &

Carolyne Ouya, Program Manager, Economic Security & Mobility

*The National Human Trafficking Hotline is not legally required to report cases of trafficking to law enforcement. However, there may be instances where that is possible. To find a local human trafficking service provider near you, visit the National Human Trafficking Referral Directory.
