We Won in Court

I beat the Governor and Attorney General in court to protect Missouri's Sunshine Law.

The Western District Court of Appeals released its opinion ([link removed]) on the case Elad Gross v. Michael Parson, et al. I asked for records from the Governor regarding corruption in our government, specifically communications between the Governor's Office and multiple people involved in a dark money corruption scheme using a fake charity to buy our state.

There were many records available, but the Governor refused to release them to me unless I paid over $3,600 and waited about half a year.

I asked the Governor to reconsider and the Attorney General to enforce Missouri's Sunshine Law against the Governor. They both ignored me. So I took the Governor to court. The Attorney General, instead of enforcing our government transparency laws, took the Governor's side. He argued that the Governor should be able to charge exorbitant fees to members of the public for public records.

My case was dismissed at the trial level before I had any time to collect evidence. Some of you might remember that Senator Josh Hawley refused to cooperate in the investigation. I had to hire a process server to serve him with a subpoena. He evaded service for two weeks before he was served at CPAC ([link removed]) . He then hired five lawyers to avoid giving sworn testimony, including some attorneys who specialize in defending against corruption allegations.

I also subpoenaed former Governor Greitens. He was very hard to find, but his accomplices were not. The court ordered subpoenas for several individuals, including one of his former staffers who now fundraises from dark money organizations and corporations for our current Attorney General, and the president of Greitens' fake political charity, a lawyer named Michael Adams who now serves as the Secretary of State of Kentucky.

I was unravelling a web of corruption that sold Missouri to the highest bidder. Our government fought back. And We the People won.

We have a lot more to do. There could be an appeal, and, when we go back to the trial court, we'll have to start up the discovery process and subpoenas again.

Our campaign for Attorney General started in a courtroom in Cole County. It started because our government refused to represent We the People, choosing to instead serve out-of-state monopolists with money and power. It started because we stood up.
