I’ve spent my life standing with law enforcement, and I’ve seen firsthand what happens when radical prosecutors put politics before justice. What’s happening to Officer Alfred Flores is a travesty—plain and simple.
Officer Flores spent 15 years serving and protecting the people of San Antonio. He put his life on the line day after day, earning the trust and gratitude of his community. But today, he’s facing first-degree murder charges for simply doing his duty.
On June 23, 2023, Sgt. Alfred Flores responded to a crisis—an individual who was dangerously cutting wires to the fire alarm system at an apartment complex, armed with a hammer, and threatening officers and an elderly resident.
The suspect had barricaded herself inside her apartment, refused to comply with police commands, and had already committed multiple felonies, including resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Despite numerous attempts to de-escalate the situation, Perez remained aggressive, shouting threats and endangering herself and others.
With no time to spare, he took decisive action to protect lives. And now, Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales, a soft-on-crime politician with a radical agenda, is trying to ruin his life.
Let’s be clear: Alfred Flores followed his training, acted to protect lives, and did what any officer in his position would have done. The suspect was violent, refused to comply, and posed an immediate threat.
Yet instead of backing our law enforcement heroes, Gonzales is playing politics with their lives.
This isn’t just about Officer Flores. It’s about every law enforcement officer across the country who risks everything to keep us safe. If we don’t take a stand now, more officers will face the same fate—punished for doing their jobs.
This is an OUTRAGE. Officer Flores acted with bravery to defend himself and his fellow officers, but the system he served is turning its back on him. If convicted, he could face LIFE in prison for making a split-second decision in a deadly situation.
