John, Pennsylvania is one of just a few states with a divided legislature. For nearly my entire term, Republicans have held a majority in the Pennsylvania State Senate, while Democrats have held the majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Some pundits believed that this divided legislature was a recipe for disaster, a hopeless situation where absolutely nothing could get done. But time and time again, we’ve proven those pundits wrong.

Working with members of both parties, we put our differences aside and got to work for the people of Pennsylvania. We made a historic $500 million investment to build shovel-ready sites across the Commonwealth and spur economic growth. We secured the largest targeted tax cut for seniors in nearly twenty years. We tripled the Childcare Tax Credit to put more money in families’ pockets. And we delivered the single largest increase in Basic Education Funding in Pennsylvania history.

John, this progress required a lot of hard work, focus, and yes, compromise. After all, the good people of Pennsylvania didn’t elect me as their Governor to prioritize petty politics above all else. They elected me to get sh*t done — and that’s what I’ve done since day one.
