Because of you, Mia’s fairytale wish was coming true.

Mia didn’t have the words, but she had the moves.

In a pink dress and sparkling crown, the 10-year-old princess glided across the ballroom floor in her wheelchair. She was dancing with her dad.

Six years earlier, a neurological disorder left Mia unable to speak and caused a loss of her mobility.

But not long ago, as her difficult medical treatments continued, Mia learned she would be granted her one true wish. And what a wish it was! To be a princess at a royal ball.

Our community united to grant Mia’s wish — with hairstyling and make-up for Mia, gowns and tuxes for her family and a decorated ballroom for her wish day.

Mia rode to the ball in a carriage, like every princess should, as part of a grand parade. A marching band, the local fire department, the sheriffs’ mounted patrol and the school football team and cheerleaders joined in, while 100 neighbors cheered her on.

And when she arrived at the ball, a pink throne and 80 loved ones awaited.

Then came the big moment. Leading up to Mia’s wish day, she and her dad had taken dance lessons.

So as music filled the ballroom that day, a father and his daughter graced the dance floor together, knowing a wheelchair could never stand in their way.

No longer a princess-in-waiting, Mia had a royal ball, befitting of a true princess. Her smile lit up the room, a celebration of the power of a wish and the kindness of people like you.
