VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fed-up Jim Acosta rips spineless Republican rep on air
MAGA clown Tim Burchett put on an epic display of whataboutism to deflect very straightforward questions about Donald Trump's unconscionable pardons for violent Jan. 6 rioters, and CNN's Jim Acosta was thankfully having none of it.

Trump executive orders threaten healthcare of millions of Americans
Within his first 48 hours back in office, Trump has signed several executive orders that threaten the healthcare of millions of Americans — as he repeatedly promised he would do on the campaign trail. Amid a flurry of executive orders, some of which were signed live on TV on inauguration night to really hammer home the cruelty, the MAGA cult leader issued several orders that repeal Biden-era directives that had expanded healthcare access and options for lower-income and middle-class Americans. Those orders are expected to affect the medical insurance coverage for upwards of 20 MILLION people in the US, many of whom voted for Trump. Will the convicted felon face any blowback for stripping away their healthcare? Time will tell.

Star Democrat announces run for governor in CRITICAL swing state
Jocelyn Benson for Governor: Michigan's Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is running for Governor to truly make government work for everyone. We need transparent leadership, safe schools and neighborhoods, and quality education and childcare. Everyone should be able to pay their bills, put food on the table, and take care of their families. Benson ran for Secretary of State to make sure government is efficient and transparent, that every voice is heard, and that every legitimate vote is counted — in every election, no matter the outcome. She's spent her career standing up to powerful interests, and will keep standing up to any bullies or billionaires who try to deceive us, divide us, take away our rights, or deprive us of our opportunities. Will you chip in to her campaign and help us hold the governor's office in this critical swing state?
Trump pitches abolishing FEMA: "I don't think we should give California anything"
Oh, hey. It's only Day 3, southern California is still on fire, and the president of the frickin' United States is casually threatening to do away entirely with FEMA, the 17,000-strong federal agency with a $33 billion annual budget whose primary function is to provide critical, on-the-ground support and help Americans recover from catastrophic disasters that otherwise overwhelm local and state resources. Oh, Donald also said the federal government should just stop providing any further aid to California, the most populous and most economically powerful state in the union. So glad we are great again.

Elon Musk throws cold water on Trump’s $500 billion AI plan
Donald's ketamine-popping sugar daddy wasted little time poo-pooing the MAGA cult leader's just-announced AI project and its eye-popping half-trillion-dollar price tag. "They don't actually have the money," the billionaire tech bro wrote on nüTwitter in a rare public dig at Trump just hours after the president made his ballyhooed announcement about the privately funded initiative. Elon's contempt for the venture might have something to do OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's involvement. The two have an icy relationship to say the least; the pair co-founded OpenAI in 2015, and Musk has been critical of Altman, who he once dubbed "Swindly Sam," since departing three years later, questioning — get this — the ethical direction of the company and Altman’s leadership.

Trump threatens Russia with tariffs and sanctions if it does not agree to end war
In perhaps a bit of welcomed news, President Trump threatened to impose "high levels" of tariffs and sanctions on Russia if there is no deal to end the brutal war in Ukraine, nearly three years on. Trump called out Russian President Vladimir Putin by name in the social media post, arguing that he always had a good relationship with the leader, but that it was time to settle "this ridiculous War!" and demanding in signature all-caps that "NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!" Agreed, but we won't be holding our breath. The MAGA cult leader repeatedly proclaimed on the campaign trail that he could settle the war between Russia and Ukraine in one day if he was elected president, a comically impossible promise he immediately broke. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday Trump artfully opined, "I mean, I'd like to see that end. Millions of people are being killed, and they're being killed. It's a vicious situation."

Trump freed a Jan. 6 defendant charged with assaulting police. DOJ had him arrested again on a gun charge
A Jan. 6 defendant whose felony assault charges were dismissed a day earlier by Donald Trump was arrested Wednesday on federal gun charges that have been pending for nearly two years in Florida. Daniel Ball was being held in pretrial detention in Washington, DC, because of what a magistrate judge described as "some of the most violent and serious offenses of any of the charges being brought against participants in the January 6 events." Among them, Ball was charged with hurling an "explosive device" into the packed Lower West Terrace tunnel of the US Capitol, disorienting several officers and causing hearing loss that in some cases lingered for months. Undeterred, the MAGA cult leader had Ball's charges waived and his case summarily dismissed. Unfortunately for Ball, charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm remained pending and unconnected to his Jan. 6 case. According to that indictment, Ball had previously been convicted of domestic violence battery by strangulation in June 2017, resisting law enforcement with violence, and battery of a law enforcement officer in October 2021. What a patriot.

Trump halts sanctions on Israeli settlers, threatens to seize assets of war crimes investigators
The MAGA cult leader wasted no time abandoning his inauguration promise to be known as a "peacemaker and a unifier," issuing executive orders lifting Biden-era sanctions aimed at curbing Israeli settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Trump also rescinded a policy that had blocked sanctions against the International Criminal Court, putting those who try to hold the US and its allies accountable for war crimes at risk of a new round of financial penalties. Within hours of lifting the sanctions, Israeli settlers attacked Jinasfut, a Palestinian village in the West Bank, injuring at least 21 Palestinians and setting fire to homes, cars, a nursery, and workshop, according to village officials. And on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a new military operation into the northern West Bank city of Jenin and an adjoined refugee camp where several Palestinian militant groups are based. The Israeli offensive, backed by drones and helicopters, killed at least 10 Palestinians — including a 16-year-old boy — and wounded 35 others, health officials said. The campaign is known as “Operation Iron Wall,” an apparent reference to the Zionist writings of Ze’ev Jabotinsky that argued for the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians to secure an Israeli state.
Republican congressman tells Matt Gaetz he thinks aliens are hiding out at sea in underwater bases but he's not afraid of them
GOP Rep. Tim Burchett told his former colleague and still disgraced sex trafficker Matt Gaetz during a televised interview that he believes extraterrestrial aliens are hiding out in underwater bases in our oceans, moving to and from our solar system at light speeds — but that he's also not worried about them because, "I mean, with that capabilities (sic), they would have barbecued us a long time ago." The Republican lawmaker and amateur UFO sleuth went on to explain how light speed works to Gaetz, noting, "I mean light years, you know, the light from those stars that we see at night left there before the time of Christ." Uh huh. Burchett sits on several powerful House committees, including those that oversea foreign affairs, cybersecurity, information technology, and government innovation. Neat!

Seriously?
Yes. Seriously
Hope...
