Hi John xxxxxx,
Many of our mothers and grandmothers remember living in a time when women couldn't open their own credit cards (1974) or apply for high-paying jobs. It’s only been about 100 years since (white) women were granted the right to vote.
We watched on Monday as a misogynist and sexual predator was sworn in as president with many other misogynists and sexual predators around him. We have every reason to believe that the next four years could be a backslide for women’s progress in America. We are writing today because we have a plan for ensuring pro-women legislation prevails.
But here’s the thing: passing pro-women legislation is dependent on women being REPRESENTED in the rooms where decisions about us and our bodies are being made.

Women have steadily become much more represented at nearly every level of government, and our laws have reflected that increase in representation. For example, as more bold women entered Congress in the 1960’s and 70’s, we started to see more anti-discrimination and pro-equality laws which conspicuously include the phrasing “on the basis on sex.”
But in recent years, we have started to see a disturbing trend.
In 2024, the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) released a stunning report stating that the number of women who ran for Congress in 2024 was far less than in previous election cycles.
Let’s look at the numbers:
Since 2022, the number of women candidates running for federal office is down by 25%. Executive offices at the state level: down by 73%. The number of women running for State legislature is down by 55.4% – and the numbers are even worse when you break it down by race…
But, as you know, this is a horrible time for women to lose representation in government as dangerous laws about women’s bodies and well-being are being crafted by rooms full of men. We desperately need more women in those rooms.
It’s critical that we reverse this trend in the years to come. That’s why Her Bold Move is providing pro-choice, pro-WOMEN women candidates with the wide range of support they need to run for office and WIN their elections.
We are working to ensure that women’s hard-fought progress doesn’t disappear. Join us to elect as many pro-choice, pro-women women as possible throughout the Trump administration by donating $20.25 or more today. →
