Dear New Mexico Democrats,
We’re three days into Trump’s second term. There are 1,460 days remaining. Let’s not sugarcoat it—this is a dark moment for our democracy. This is not where we wanted to be, especially after getting served this hard lesson before in 2016. But while there may not be any bright sides, there is a path forward.
In just 651 days, we have the chance to rewrite the story with the midterm elections. To prepare for that fight, we must learn from the hard lessons of 2024. Here’s the hard truth: the people in charge haven’t always been the best judges of what went wrong. Some of the mistakes made this year may even echo those of 2016. New Mexico did a tremendous job with our races, but Donald Trump still received 46% of the vote.
We cannot afford to keep repeating the same mistakes.That’s why we’re turning to you.
We need your perspective—your insights, your experiences, your ideas. What went wrong? What must we do differently? And just as importantly, what are you willing to do to help us win big in 2026 and beyond?
