On this day in 1973, Roe v. Wade affirmed Americans’ right to safe and legal abortion.

Fast forward 52 years; Roe has been overturned and Right-Wing Extremists are preparing to criminalize abortion in all 50 states.

As a woman and mom to a daughter, I’m outraged.

Last session, I was proud to join Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto in introducing the Reproductive Health Patient Navigator Act , which would connect women seeking reproductive care in Nevada with the reliable information, resources, and services they desperately need.

I also co-sponsored the Access to Family Building Act to establish a legal right to IVF and similar treatments (another reproductive right extremists are trying to steal from us).

The bottom line is that neither the Supreme Court’s terrible decision, nor a federal law, will prevent abortion; they’ll only prevent safe abortion. Women are already paying the ultimate price.

If we don’t act, Americans will continue to be at the mercy of partisan judges and politicians in Washington.

That’s why I’ll continue to fight like hell to protect the right to choose. And I won’t give up until every woman is free to make her own decisions about her life and her body, no matter where she lives.
