Friend — Trump has been president for less than 72 hours, and already my head is spinning.
I’m sure you saw that Trump has signed dozens of executive orders on issues from immigration to oil drilling.
None of them will make America more affordable, cleaner, safer, stronger, or “great again.” What they will do is make life harder for some of the most vulnerable people out there — refugees, LGBTQ people, Black and Brown communities, and the list goes on.
Now the full impact of Trump’s victory is coming into view after a few months of wait-and-see. I know a lot of us are angry. Really angry. Some, on the other hand, seem to have lost hope.
But despite how bad these first few days already are, I am committed to taking all this anger, sadness, and frustration I feel and translating it into something worthwhile. And for me, that something is the mission we have here at The Long Run to invest in the next generation of progressive leaders.
So I want to ask you: Will you make that commitment too? Can you agree that every time Trump does something that makes our blood boil, we will turn around and put more work, more time, more resources into rebuilding after our loss in November and electing a wave of opposition at the federal, state, and local levels?
