I'm Nellie Pou — Congresswoman representing New Jersey's 9th District. Earlier this month, I had the honor of being sworn into Congress alongside my colleagues. The days ahead will be difficult but you have my word that I will always fight hard for North Jersey families.

Since entering public office, I've fought to make our schools better for our kids, make health care affordable, and fix our broken criminal justice system. These are challenging fights — but they're necessary, and also personal to me. 

The story of how we got here is complicated — this is the seat once held by my mentor, the late Bill Pascrell. Bill taught me a thing or two about being New Jersey tough. He left big shoes to fill but the work must continue, especially as we hurtle toward a second Trump term. 

Donald Trump won our district and my race was the closest this district has seen in a long time - we won with under 51 percent of the vote! Protecting this seat and regaining our House majority starts now. Mike Johnson and the Republicans are already coming after me and they are preparing to spend millions to try to steal this seat.
