Hey everyone,
The past weeks were filled with fires in LA, a tenuous ceasefire in Gaza and Trump’s inauguration which showcased the consolidation of Tech and Billionaire power alongside the MAGA elites. It’s a lot to hold, and you don’t have to do it alone. This is a critical time to turn towards each other, and to recommit to organizing our own slice of the top 10% of the economy. The people on this email list are the people who we know will fight together, and will show up in solidarity and shared interest when our broader communities are inevitably targeted. Here are some resources and fortification for the fight ahead:

1. Learn about the threats to organizations and how we can support frontline groups:
Meeting the Moment: Nonprofit Security and Infrastructure - Thursday, January 30th, 3:30 - 4:30 PM EST
As threats against movement leaders and organizations grow in the areas of funding, digital, physical, legal, and legislative attacks—it’s critical to ground ourselves and strategize. Drawing from Building Movement Project’s latest report in our Movement Infrastructure series, Sounding the Alarm: Nonprofits on the Frontlines of a Polarized Political Climate, this webinar will contextualize these challenges within the long history of movement repression in the U.S., highlight strategies of resistance, and issue a call to funders to stand in long-term solidarity with frontline communities.
The discussion will address key issues, including nonprofit security and safety, movement repression and defense, and state and local responses of grassroots groups fighting back. This conversation will highlight the resilience across movements with actionable insights to support strategies for safety and security in this moment. Speakers: - Darakshan Raja (she/her), Executive Director, Muslims for Just Futures (MJF)
-
Shelby Chestnut (Assiniboine) (they/them/he/him), Executive Director, Transgender Law Center (TLC)

2. Learn How We Go On the Offensive On the Housing Fight:
Popular Democracy Renters Rising Meeting- Orientation to Offensive Housing Fights in 2025 - Jan 28th
This is one of the times where progressive City and State Governments have outsized power to challenge and set the tone for what will be possible in the Trump Administration. With our Housing Campaign in solidarity with Popular Democracy, now is the time to go on the offensive to challenge camping bans, push for rent control and advance renter protection across the board. We can be part of bolstering progressive governments to step up and stand out to orders from the Federal Government around immigration, trans rights and housing discrimination.
