Team —

On this day 52 years ago, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution protected the right to have an abortion in the landmark Roe v. Wade decision .

While this ruling unlocked reproductive rights for Americans and was a major step forward for bodily autonomy and privacy, its opponents became emboldened to turn back the clocks and find ways to restrict reproductive rights and abortion access in states across the country.

The anti-abortion movement found a champion in none other than Donald Trump , who in his first term appointed three far-right Supreme Court justices to the bench — justices who ultimately overturned Roe in a 2022 ruling.

Since that day, Democratic Attorneys General across the country have worked fiercely to protect and expand abortion access and reproductive freedom.

But with Donald Trump back in the White House and Republicans in control of both chambers of Congress, the fight for reproductive freedom has never been more important than it is right now. Simply put, Dem AGs are our last line of defense.
