Today marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, which enshrined abortion rights as the law of the land — until Donald Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court overturned it in 2022.
New Jersey worked proactively to protect abortion rights months before Roe was overturned. And now, we must further secure our reputation as a safe haven for reproductive freedom. Donald Trump’s first term was marred by anti-abortion rhetoric and policies that set women’s rights back generations. After his first term, his conservative Supreme Court overturned Roe , and 12 states passed complete bans on abortion.
