John, if you’re like me, you’re going to be looking hard for good news during the next four years. Self care, right? Well, I have some I want to share! A handful of my colleagues – and specifically three of my friends – were recently sworn in as members of the U.S. Senate. Although we lost the Senate overall, these three will be strong voices for our values and are helping to lay the groundwork to turn the Senate blue next election cycle.

🔵 Adam Schiff was a mentor to me during my first term, chaired the House Intelligence Committee, where I now serve, and has been a champion on climate change and affordable housing. Senator Schiff led President Trump’s first impeachment trial and served on the committee investigating the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. He will serve California and the country well.
|
🔵 Andy Kim served as a national security specialist under two presidents before becoming my colleague on the House Armed Services Committee. His election in New Jersey will bring experienced leadership to the Senate in areas where we need it, like national defense and foreign relations.
|
🔵 Elissa Slotkin and I met on the campaign trail back in 2018 when we were both running for office for the first time. Originally from Michigan, she worked at the CIA before representing Michigan in the U.S. House. She's been focused on solving "kitchen-table issues" like more good jobs, better health care, and equitable education – issues where American families urgently need her help.

I couldn’t be happier for these three, and I know they will continue to do amazing work in the Senate. I look forward to working alongside them and seeing all they accomplish.

The fight continues, and as always, there's work to be done.

P.S. Donald Trump has officially taken office but the work continues. We are already back at it, talking to prospective candidates and making plans to retake the House and the Senate next year. I'll need all the support I can get as I take on the far right and fight for you. If you're able, I invite you to donate to power my work in the year ahead.
