Governor DeWine Announces
November TechCred Results
"The January application period is currently open"
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the results of the November TechCred application period in which *492 employers* were awarded, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn *6,766 tech-focused credentials*. This announcement also marks a new milestone for TechCred for awarding over 120,000 tech-focused credentials to nearly 3,500 Ohio employers since 2019.
“TechCred gives Ohio employers the opportunity to choose the tech training their employees need - most times at no cost to them,” said Governor DeWine. “Participating in TechCred is a great way for employers to ensure their employees continue learning new skills.”
TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees with the credentials needed for a tech-infused economy. Of the total credentials awarded in this specific round of TechCred, *nearly 3,000 were manufacturing-related credentials* awarded to almost 200 Ohio manufacturers. Since 2019, nearly 1,400 Ohio manufacturers have been awarded over 53,600 credentials through the program. Businesses of all sizes, from any industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year.
“As Ohio continues to grow, equipping people with the skills to succeed in today’s workforce is more important than ever,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “Today’s results highlight the importance of investing in Ohioans as they develop in-demand skills, advance their careers, and strengthen our economy—all while ensuring businesses have access to exceptional talent.”
“The short-term credential is a critical part of higher education and Ohio’s economy,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey. “The success of the TechCred program is a testament to its ability to use these credentials to upskill Ohio’s workforce and create a win-win for workers and their employers.”
The current application period for Ohio employers opened *January 2, 2025, and will close on January 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.* Individuals and training providers interested in learning more about the program can visit TechCred.Ohio.Gov.
