John,
This week has been about as miserable as we expected. Trump was sworn into office, and immediately got to work. On day 1 he signed 26 executive orders and rescinded 78 executive actions implemented by the Biden administration. Was any of this good for the American people? Nah.
He’s tearing down our movement’s work and creating an agenda that works against the people.
We went to look for the Office of Gun Violence Prevention's website, and instead were greeted by this page:
The Office of Gun Violence Prevention is a lifeline that survivors and organizers fought tooth and nail for to help leaders across the country apply best practices to save lives from gun violence.
THIS is the kind of work that led to gun violence dropping finally this last year, and it's what is at risk.
There’s no more time to sit idly by, we’ve got to do something about this. The new administration is not going to do anything to end gun violence, so it’s up to us.
The fight begins now, John. Just because there’s a fascist in power does not mean that we need to lose all hope.
Trump may be dangerous, but he has a powerful enemy in America’s young people. We will keep on marching for our lives and we hope you will too. Please, if you’re in this with us, make a donation of any amount to fuel the fight.
Onwards,
March for Our Lives
Your Personal Invite To the Movement Fund 💌💙 At March For Our Lives, we call our monthly supporter program The Movement Fund. Why are monthly recurring donors so important? The amount of one-time individual donations we receive as an organization varies vastly from month to month. Without a steady stream of monthly donations coming in our door, it would be impossible to accurately plan our budgets, create long-term strategies to win a future free from gun violence, plan and execute on-the-ground organizing efforts, recruit and train more gun safety champions, and more. |
