Yesterday, we introduced our 2024 election analysis, and the overwhelming response we received highlighted just how deeply you care about the future of our party. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to engage with us—these conversations are vital as we work to rebuild and refocus. Among the many thoughtful responses, one question stood out as a recurring theme: "So, what now?"

The truth is, there’s no single answer—there are many. But they all revolve around one central theme: the Democratic elites are out of touch with the American people.

We have seen this before and after the 2024 election, where critical issues were ignored, and bold leadership opportunities, like elevating AOC to House minority leadership, were blocked in favor of status quo decision-making. We cannot afford to keep alienating the grassroots energy that fuels our party.

So, where do we go from here?

Rural America Needs a Voice. For too long, our party’s leadership has concentrated power in D.C. and left rural and small-town Americans behind. Losing the rural vote by 50 to 60 percentage points isn’t sustainable. We need to recruit candidates who look like and talk like regular Americans and invest in rural organizers who show up year-round—not just during election cycles.

Bold Ideas That Inspire. Democrats must return to putting forward solutions that build wealth, protect families, and expand access to education. Policies that reflect the needs of all Americans—whether they live in cities, suburbs, or small towns.

Let the Next Generation Step Up. This party is in desperate need for new voices. There are so many young Americans who want to show up and make a difference, but unfortunately they are effectively silenced by the oligarchy that has slowly tightened its grip on our democracy. This is a problem for both parties, but Democrats need to be different to pave the way for real progress.

This is our moment to rebuild the Democratic Party into one that resonates with all Americans—whether they’re living in the downtown of a major metropolis, or in a rural neighborhood. Our message will resonate with the American people, we just need to make sure it reaches every corner of the country. Together, we can create a party that’s strong, unified, and ready to win in 2026 and beyond.
