52 years ago today, the Supreme Court affirmed a woman’s constitutional right to access safe and legal abortion in their landmark ruling of Roe v. Wade.

And after decades of lobbying and far-right activism, the Supreme Court overturned it in 2022. In a single moment, the Court overturned 50 years of precedent, stripping away American women’s freedom to make their own decisions about abortion.

Why? Because the Supreme Court, Donald Trump, Senate Republicans, and radical Republican state legislators and judges across the country believe that they should have power over women — that they know better than women and their doctors.

Republicans’ crusade against women’s reproductive freedoms continues. The far-right’s Project 2025 agenda made revoking access to medication abortion a cornerstone of their policy plan — and now that Donald Trump is in the White House, we could see their plans come to fruition.

That’s why I’m prioritizing abortion rights — including the repeal of the Comstock Act, an outdated law that the right wing is attempting to use to ban medication abortion nationwide.

john, we have to fight with all the power and energy we have to make sure women have reproductive freedoms. We need to restore abortion access in states where there are drastic bans, and we need to expand access and affordability to women and families nationwide.
